Dennis Sexton, President of Dennis Sexton Homebuilders, Inc., has been in the building trades for 30 years. In 1971, he enrolled in a four-year apprentice program sponsored by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, (The International Carpenters Trade Union). Dennis graduated second in a class of 800 and was awarded the Arthur Stewart Trophy for Excellence in Carpentry.
After working as a carpenter for several years, Dennis was appointed foreman on a project at the University of Miami's Mark Light Field (a baseball/football complex). He went on to run several other projects.
This led to his own remodeling business, during which time he became licensed electrical contractor, enabling him to expand his business to 80 employees. In 1985, he sold his business to pursue a lifelong passion of long distance sailing. After sailing to four continents, he arrived in Shelter Cove Harbor in 1994. He was so taken with the beauty of Hilton Head Island, Dennis decided to make it his home. After purchasing a lot in Palmetto Hall Plantation, Dennis sold his sailboat and built his residence.
That was the beginning of Dennis Sexton Homebuilders, Inc. At the present time, they have built over 200 custom homes in the Hilton Head and Bluffton market and look forward to many more years of the same.
